Wifi Internet Facility in IIT Roorkee
There’s a rampant corruption in IIT Roorkee at all top level projects. This is one of the projects, where a lot of public money has been swallowed/ eaten up by Corrupt Administration/Professors .
During 2006-07 internet facility was provided in the hostels for the first time. But all in vain. They have installed very sub standard and poor quality Routers and Servers, resulting into poor internet Facilities. The students suffer a lot due to this, till date.
Please file an RTI for the same, and do not file it in my name.

Questions:
- Please give me names and designations of the officers who first proposed the project. Please give me the names and designation of the people who considered the project and please give me their comments and suggestions on the project.
- How many bids were placed for the project in its various stages?
What was the value of the tenders?
Which of the tenders was accepted in each of the stages of the project? - On what dates was the newspaper advertisement inviting tenders published? Which newspapers published it?
- Please provide me a copy of the final Tender.
Please give the details of the Contractor to which, the project was given. - When did the work started for providing the Internet Facility ?
What was the target completion date of the project at that time? - When was the project got completed?
By how much time did the project got delayed? - Please provide the Name, Product name, Date of purchase, configuration and logical configuration of the all the Devices installed at the Information Superhighway Centre.
- Please give name of the official who is responsible for proper functioning and policy making with regard to the above mentioned devices.
- What is the Traffic distribution ratio with the ISP link?
- What is the priority of the internal VLAN with the ISP link ?
- Who is the Bandwidth Manager at Information Superhighway Centre (ISC)?
- Please provide the Name, Designation, qualification of all the staff members at Information Superhighway Centre(ISC).
- Please give me the names and designations of the people responsible for delay in the project. Delay causes wastage of public money and inconvenience to the general public. What action has been taken against these people for the delay?Preferred language in which information is desired is English.
In case any of the above-asked information is held by or related to another public authority, you are requested to transfer the application or such part of it as may be appropriate to that other public authority with an intimation to the undersigned (Section 6(3) of Right to Information Act, 2005).

the corruption is done by some people because the all power is centralized, to one person
such type of corruption is done with the hostels LAN, in 2011, all tenders goes to only one Co.,
1. Pls add one think the name of person who is the main administrator (bandwidth manager, there is some issue with the central Device so ask for the all configuration regarding the the cetral device which directely connected with the ISP(Router, core switch, firewall etc)

1. there is some prob. with the central device Bcaoz, we can easily access the local site (I.e. Ch-i, Lib, others) but the traffic is not route out side, so definite there is some thing wrong (purposely) with all/some device which drop the packet by any specific ip address which is hostel router so the configuration of all (means all all device) devices which is installed in the ISC

I have tailored some points according to my experience..
As per the Right to Information Act 2005, I requested for information pertaining to implementation of Wireless Internet Connection (WIFI) provided in the hostels of IIT Roorkee, hereafter referred as ‘the project’. Details of the information sought are as under (a – l ):
a. (Information No. 1) Please provide me with certified copies of all the proposals on the matter related to ‘the project’
b. (Information No. 2) Please inform me of the Name, Designation & office address of the officer(s) who was in-charge of planning and executing ‘the project’.
c. (Information No. 3) Please provide me with certified copies of Advertisement/ Tender Notice published for ‘the project’ for purchase of equipments, and installation & configuration of WIFI infrastructure.
d. (Information No. 4) Please provide me with the certified copy of analysis report OR comparison report on the quotations / bids received from various vendors for ‘the project’ for purchase of equipments and installation and configuration of WIFI.
e. (Information No. 5) Please provide me with certified copies of Work Order & Purchase Order sent to vendor inviting them for supplying the equipments and installing the WIFI infrastructure.
f. (Information No. 6) Please provide me with certified copies of Warranty / Quality of Service/Service agreement(s) made with the vendor.

As i suggested before all problem within the ISC Device configuration and you removed that part, so all above is in proper manner, if possible you must ask the configuration of all device which installed in the ISC

There is a very interesting story in my University.
Towers have been installed in the hostel premises for the Wi-Fi some a year ago. But there is no any connectivity to students at the hostels. Perhaps there is no any network.
Whether it is possible to check them and digg the whole story. There in a hostel meant for Engineering College students, students have to install repeaters on their own cost to use the facility of wifi routers.

It is strange that despite having the facilities students are not being provided.
