Sir,

The case:

ICICI Bank has taken minimum balance penalty from the Jandhan account of many customers even after they have degraded their bank account from the normal savings account to Jandhan Zero Balance account. Their (icici bank) claim was that they have taken the penalty fo the minimum balance of the of the previous account and they have right to do so.

So, I want to know,

  1. Whether RBI has permitted icici bank to debit the penalty amount of their former saving bank account amount from the Janadhan account of the degraded accounts?
  2. If permitted, which act and rules have been used?
  3. According to RBI record how many Jandhan account which was degraded from normal saving account- icici bank has debited money so far?
  4. How much money icici bank has taken from the customers this way?

If RBI rules have never permitted the Bank to deduct money from Jandhan zero balance account –whether it is the minimum balance penalty of the former saving account- or otherwise-then, what action has been taken against icici bank to return the money to the poor customers?
