    Dude..!
What exactly do you want to ask?
This is extremely VOLUMINOUS information, that you are asking.

I mean the ‘Number of books in the each Dept. Library ‘…!
Please be precise and to the point.

Moving this to Unclear RTI Category till something more logical/sensible is asked :)

    • RTIRTI says:

      Hi

Thanks for caring to read through this RTI.

I do not see anything wrong if the information requested is voluminous as long as the information sought. If you go through each question carefully, you will see that the information requested would serve someones purpose specially the student

As far as the example that you have quoted, it is the number of books and not the list of books. Assuming that there are 15 departments, the information you cited to be voluminous will not span more than 15 lines.

Let me know what else you feel as voluminous.

      • compaq says:

        Refer to Qn 8.

        • RTIRTI says:

Q8 asks for list of textbooks only and not all the books in library. Most subjects have either one or two texts. If that is the only reason, we can restrict it to few select departments. Let me know if anything else needs to be reduced.

          • compaq says:

Question 1,2: In our college, there’s a complete booklet called, ‘Standing orders’.
Do you want a copy of the same, which we are provided at the very first day?

Question 12:You are asking this data for 6 semesters!
How vast is this ‘Student feedbck measure’?
            Any idea?

            • RTIRTI says:

U from IITG ? If so, provide a copy of it? Is it there on intranet ? how abt linking me up ?

Q12: Student feedback measure is a consolidated score and is a single numeral for each faculty..which means six numerals for 6 semesters. the faculty list isnt that big.

Compaq, I have got a direct email form the requestor as below :- Please advice to me what should be done. After reading all the comments above, it seem like, this application needs to be toned down, else PIO will just reject it. That seems to be my opinion. But will let you and skywalker give me the final decision

              ****
Any after thoughts on my RTI. I have answered all of the issues raised by
skywalker and compaq. Would you like to move it to a different section
              from “Not Clear” ?

              Thanks !!

  2. Sky Walker says:

FYI: If the PIO can prove that he will have to spend more time to reply to your request he can reject your application.

Also, Please note that PIO is a additional responsibility and not the main duty.

I thought the students & hostellers association took active part & pride in such matters. Or have become defunct with the coming of the RTIA?

  7. Anand - RTI Anonymous Team Member says:

We definitely have a team of IIT kgp guys working behind the scenes a lot. Every kid has other guys passwords in the hostel and most posts are thru the id called param :-) and sometimes admin :-)
There is one other from IIT roorkee, who is very active (and would like to keep his identity secret)
The last 1-2 week, the IIT kgp kids lost focus, after the incident with one of our most active “behind-the-scenes” worker – SanghPriya Rahul behind attacked.

I am working closely with them, to bring them back to focus of RTI-A, by the end of this week.
Sir, These are 18-19 year old kids and I am 40. They are extremely committed and firebrand. But they are still kids after all :-)

  8. nightwatch - RTI Anonymous Team Member says:

    1. Anand, there is no question of even doubting the committment and efforts of all you guys including IIT Kgp kids.Personally I would like them to focus on their studies more being a formative stage in their career.
    2. I was referring to the Students Association at IIT Guwahati. The question raised in this RTI are well within their charter.
