Engineering Education in Andhra Pradesh

I’m really inspired by this initiative. This is my first RTI, please help me file it.

The three-member committee comprising

  1. Mr. Laxminarayana, the former technical education commissioner,
  2. Prof D.N. Reddy, former JNTU-Hyderabad vice-chancellor.
  3. Mr. C.R.Biswal, the principal secretary of higher education. (  <–  I’m not sure if he is the third member )
was constituted by the government to study engineering education scenario in Andhra Pradesh. They submitted a report to the government on the same. I’m interested in getting that report. Because, it was a state issue, it wasn’t covered very well by the national papers. The regional news papers just covered few of the of committee.
Some key points of that committee were:
  • Btech Graduates of the same college are working as teaching faculty
  •  In more than 200 colleges, professors are below 10%
  • The ratio of student to teacher  is not as per AICTE
  • etc..etc.
I’ve mailed these news paper editors saying that I want to know more information about this article. But I didn’t get any response from them.
From the UGC website there are not more than 500 colleges (including arts, engineering & all other streams) in Andhra Pradesh, but according to that committee there are 710 engineering colleges.  I want to look deep into all these issues. But I simply cannot trust/get all information from news papers. I need to get all “official information” but don’t know how. If I get information for Andhra Pradesh, I’ll continue and analyse these things for other states also.  I request people here to kindly guide me through the process.
