Retirement Home for Ex Presidents of Independent India
During the recent controversy regarding Ms Pratiba Patil’s , President of India, retirement home, The President’s Secretariat had made it clear that the land to be allotted to her was for use as her post-retirement residence only during her lifetime with no rights of ownership, transfer lease, etc.,”
a) In this back ground I would like to know, how many and who all were the presidents of Independent India who were allotted land by the Govt of India for retirement home?
b) Out of the Ex Presidents of India who were alloted land by Govt for retirement home, How many of the deceased Presidents’ families have returned their land back to Govt of India ?
c) If any of the above Ex Presidents’ families have not returned the land ( refer to query (b) above), what action has been taken by the Ministry of Defence to recover the land which belongs to the Govt of India ?
