How many sets of dress materials were purchased for the present President Of India, Smt Pratibha Patil?
How much is the total expenditure incurred on this account, on purchase of dress materials like Sarees.
Is there any limit to the this head of expenditure?
How much was the total expenditure incurred for purchase dress materials for previous President DR. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ?
1. Are you aware of the provision/law/authority under which dress material can be purchased for the President of India from Public Fund?
2. It maybe that they are entitled to a fixed outfit allowance as a cremonial figure, in that case such information would be personal in nature and out of RTIA.
I know that dress materials for President of India is purchased from Public Fund.
Only for Class D employees of Govt are are paid fixed outfit allowance.
I remember when Dr. Abdul Kalam got his suit stitched, it was a news in most of the news paper.
1. Outfit/clothing allce is not only for Group D. All uniformed services( incl group A) not only get outfit allce but also allce for maintenance.
2. President is the Head of the Armed Forces but whether She is entitled separate clothing allce or part of her salary is not clear. Her entitlement is attached for your reference.
3. She has declared all her financial assets and her foreign trips on her website, she should be willing to provide information of her clothes purchases too.
4. Since you are so sure that she has purchased clothes from public money, please share the response to your RTI with us.

For all defence service officer, there is a limit for grant of uniform material as well as for its maintenance. No one is given unlimited power for dress material.How much given to President is not known.
