In may 2000 the anticorruption branch of CBI raided and registered a case against three Doordarshan officials for allegedly accepting a bribe from a TV producer. The offices and residences of the three, Rati Ram Rana, station director, Krishna Deo Kalpit, executive producer and R P Meena, assistant station director, Jaipur DD Kendra were searched in the first week of May along with arrests of the accused.

The three are alleged to have conspired to knock out money from Rajendra Gupta, producer of a TV serial `Rang Tarang’ for granting him 13 additional episodes of the serial and for change in the telecast time.

this RTI should mean to unearth what went wrong and how far have the CBI been succesful in putting the case for its logical conclusion.

Subject: Request for information under section 7(1) under RTI act

Sir, It has been noticed that In may 23rd 2000 a news report appeared in Indian express which speaks of a raid in which some officials of DD jaipur was caught red handed accepting 15000 Rs as bribe by ACB, Jaipur. the following RTI queries relates to the same incident and it is needless to say when that public servants who are entrusted to uphold the law and constitutional rights of the people shamelessly indulge in such misdeamenour , it is grossly against public interest and it is for public Interest that disclosures should be made in order to repose the faith of India citizen on the system which is entrusted to Investigate and prosecute such acts of shame.

Please provide information on the following queries.

1. please provide copy of FIR.

2. has a chargesheet been filed in this case

3. Is the Investigation complete.

4. please mention the no. of pages in the report of Investigating officer.

5. Has a charge sheet been filed ?

6.If answer is yes, then please state the no of pages in the chargesheet, the charges on the accused.

7. If the answer to 5 is No then please provide the reason for the same.

8. was the charges against the accused in the aforesaid case tried in any court of law, if yes then please mention the case no. , name of the court, date,

9. Has the court given any judgement in this case.

10. Have the accused challenged the judgement in higher court.
