Express Train Ticket Travelling in Suburban Train

Deputy GM & PIO, RTI/PG Cell, Southern Railway - HQ, GM Office, Park Town Road, Chennai 600 003.

Wish to seek below information:

 a) Is I-Ticket / Ticket procured at Counter is eligible to travel in Suburban train of the same express train route? Provided the Journey is not completed in the express train route for suburban train traveling route. (Eg: Commuter having full journey ticket from Tiruchendur (TCN) to Chennai Egmore (MS) in Chendur Express (Train No.16375), commuter alighting at Tambaram(TBM) and making use of local suburban train and completing the journey till Chennai Egmore (MS) or alighting at earlier suburban station.

 b) Between Tambaram(TBM) and Chennai Egmore (MS) suburban route, Has any commuter has been penalized in the year 2012 for completing the journey in Suburban train with express train ticket? (with the condition that, commuter is having the Express train ticket till MS)

 c) Any difference between Tickets procured at Counter and E-Ticket (with Valid Govt. Id Proof) for Traveling?

There is no difference between an e-ticket and a ticket taken from the counter and i-ticket.

You are allowed to travel through suburban trains even if you have an express train ticket.
