Information about Inspire scholarship distribution in IISER-Kolkata

Sub: Application under the Right to Information Act (RTIA), 2005

Provide the following details relating to the distribution of INSPIRE (Innovation for Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Scholarships in IISER-Kolkata.

1) What is the total number of BS-MS students studying in IISER-Kolkata?

2) How many BS-MS students have completed their course from IISER-Kolkata?

3) What are the eligibility requirements for a BS-MS student to receive Inspire Scholarship in IISER-Kolkata? Provide an attested copy of all related governing orders/directions and laws.

4) How many of current BS-MS students are eligible to receive Inspire Scholarship in IISER-Kolkata?

5) What are the IISER-Kolkata’s guidelines to distribute Inspire Scholarships to the eligible BS-MS students? Provide an attested copy of all related governing orders/directions and laws.

6) Has the department made any arrangement/system for fair and just distribution of scholarships to the deserving students? Provide an attested copy of the related documents.

7) To how many students IISER-Kolkata has distributed full amount of Inspire Scholarship i.e., Rs. 80,000/- ?

8) What is the total amount of Inspire Scholarship money which IISER-Kolkata did not distributed to eligible students?

9) What do IISER-Kolkata do with undistributed Inspire Scholarship money? Provide an attested copy of the related documents.

10) What is the total amount of undistributed Inspire Scholarship money spend by IISER-Kolkata?

11) Please attach the certified xerox copies of bills for which if the undistributed Inspire Scholarship money was used?

12) If any student has not been given the scholarship during the year 2011-2012, then specify the reason for the same. Provide an attested copy of the related documents.

13) Specify the names and designation of the officers responsible for distribution of Inspire-Fellowships. Provide an attested copy of the related documents.

14) In case of corruption in distribution of fellowship what action can be taken against such officers according to departmental rules and regulations? Provide an attested copy of the related documents.

Also as per the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005 please provide the details (Name and Designation) of the first appellate authority with respect to your department with the reply to the above request, where I may if required file my first appeal.

    Eligibility: All student of IISER/IIT/NIT those who are studying basic Sciences(except economics) will get Inspire Scholarship.
    Or Those Who have scored rank under 10000 in AIEEE or IIT JEE or scored marks in board examination in top 1% and studying basic science will get Inspire Scholarship.
    1- Inspire Scholars will get only 60000 directly, rest 20000 per year(1 lack for 5 year) will get for doing Summer Research Project
    2- Those who have done Summer Research project will get mentor-ship amount of 20000.
    3- Those who have got Inspire Scholarship during first year and did not get in second year due to CGPA less than 6 , In third year he/she improved his/her CGPA greater than 6 , then he will get scholarship from next year.
    4- If someone did research project in Winter vacation(minimum 5 weeks) , He will also get mentor-ship cost for that.
    5- Those who have done research project in Same College Itself during summer will not get whole amount of 20000 , they may get only expenses cost .
    6- Those who have done Summer project through Indian Academy of Science or any other sponsored program will not get any further amount , Their 20000 has been transferred to mentoring Institution.
    7- No need to submit bills of all expenditure , only declaration is sufficient.
    8- Foreign summer Projects are allowed at the end of third and forth year summer only.
    9- Total money for Inspire mentor ship is 1 lack, you may utilise it in 5 year.
    10- Every Institute has a different Inspire account, If some students doesn’t utilise their mentor-ship cost(1 lack for 5 year ). It will remain in Institute Inspire account and next year Institute will utilise that money for giving inspire scholarship to future upcoming batches students.
