Bombay Municipal Corporation

The water meters ( manual) are to be fitted by the housing societies at a cost of Rs 10000(incl broker charges, cost, labour,BMC certification, etc.)

The meters are not gtd by anyone, mfr,BMC or broker or contractor.Within a couple of months the meters fail. And BMC bills merily. The water meters are also not trustworthy(either fast or slow or static).

Pl furnish details of  100 bldgs, where water meters (manual )were installed, from Jan 2010 to Oct 2011.

What is the qty of water consumed by each flat per quarter in these bldgs?

How many meters are functioning?

What is the position of the bldg where meter is not functioning?

Responsibility of BMC in case the meter is non-functional?

How is billing done if meter is not working/slow/fast?

How does BMC decide meter is fast/slow?

Why is BMC not fixing electronic water meters?

How good are these?

In 100 bldgs,  during above period, where these have been fitted, what is the position?

On what basis was elec meters fixed in those bldgs?

Is there a fall in the readings/consumption after fixing elec meters?

In how many of the above bldgs and extent?

Has amt been refunded?

Why is there no grievance resolution machinery in BMC?

can 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 bldgs on the same line get different qty of water and bills?

why are charges different?

Is it that penalty is charged if meter is not working/static/slow?

How can a large bldg with more members get a lower bill even though, water consumed is more?

How can annual water bill /cost per bldg rise many times even when qty of water is same?

    Dear Sir/Ma’am,

Can you please provide the details of concerned deptt and its PIO?

In RTI, you cannot ask ‘why’ and please be specific about the building definition, you are meant to be here. Also,if you can draft a proper formatted RTI taking a template from any of filed RTIs here, it will be good as the above information is not clear as much.

Please update with the details asked and we’ll be happy to file an RTI on this anonymously.

    Thanks,
