Dear Sirs,

 

REQUEST UNDER RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT 2005.

 

I am requesting you to provide me with the following information :

 

1.  Whether the Irrigation deptt. has completed/or is ongoing on any works in canals in and around Kolkata ?

2. Provide full details if any canal/irrigation projects have been completed in and around Kolkata.

3. Provide full details of ongoing projects in canals in and around Kolkata. Provide the names of the Executive Engineers, Office address, Telephone numbers and full details of each contractor working on ongoing projects.

3. Provide the expenditure break-up of each of the projects completed or ongoing in the Kolkata canals for the last twenty years.(1st April 1991 to 31st March 2011)

4. Provide a copy of the Audited accounts of the works completed in the canals in and around Kolkata for the last ten years.(1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011)

5. Provide a copy of the full budget for your deptt. during the last ten financial years (1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011)

6. Provide full details of funds received by your department from the Central Govt. during the last ten years (1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011)

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    I am requesting you to provide me with the following information under the Right to Information Act:

    1. Full details of Completed and Ongoing Projects related to Canals in and around Kolkata during the last ten financial years (1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011).

    2. Provide the names of the Executive Engineers, Office address, Telephone numbers and full details of each contractor working on ongoing projects related to Canals in and around Kolkata.

    3. Provide a Certified copy of the Audited accounts of Completed Projects related to Canals in and around Kolkata during the last ten financial years (1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011).

    4. Provide a Certified copy of the full budget for your Department for the current year.

    5. Provide full details of funds received by your department from the Central Government during the last ten financial years (1st April 2001 to 31st March 2011).

    We have received reply from the PIO for this RTI Application.
    The reply says that “Efforts are on for collection of information pertaining to Qno. 1,2 & 5″ and the repl being voluminous and from different departments, it might take greater time for the complete reply to arrive.

    For Q no 4 the reply says that the budget is available on website: http://www.wbfin.nic.in
    For Q no 3 the PIO has requested us to approach “the office of the Accountant General,West Bengal.”

    As soon as we receive reply for Q No. 1,2&5 we will upload it.

    What is the fate of this RTI now ? Any follow up done ? If not, then when will it be done. ?
    This is a huge scam, each and every year the Irrigation deptt. claims it has excavated this and that canal, but there is no result after spending how many hundreds or thousands of crores ? Where has the money gone ?
    This scam affects the lives of millions of people, so let us see some follow up on this. ?

    They have not answered us on this one because of the voluminous information asked, which is well within their rights according to the RTI Act. So, we couldn’t do much on this one.
