Engineering College Admission seats allotted and vacant information

Dear Sir:

Admission in the year 2011 – First Year Engineering under Mumbai and Pune

From Directorate of Technical Education (site addrss dte.org.in) no information is available on the final intake of students by each engineering college for different branches and the vacant position.  Till Cap round IV which was in early September, information was given on site for students to see and apply. After this there is no information.  It is normally given in site in pdf format.  When contacted DTE they are not giving any clear answer.  Hence can you please help and put in an RTI application to find out the actual no of students taken in by each college under different branches.

I am keen to put the draft and also want to learn the ropes of how to make RTI applications so that I can help others.  Hence if you can guide me, I will make the application and put it through you for the first time.

Pls. let me know what and how I should go about it.

Rgds

The PIO information is available in this link: http://www.dte.org.in/info_right/default.asp

You can draft your RTI as per applications under `Printed RTIs (ready to file)
However, asking for the entire list of students admitted in 2011 in Mumbai and Pune will run into innumerable pages. So, what is it that you are exactly looking for, pl let me know.
Ritesh, on this point that the list has not been put up in the public domain we could make a complaint under Section 4 to the State Chief Information Commissioner. Please go through the website for yourself to ensure that the list is not put up (just to cross check) and then i shall send you the draft of the complaint through your email.

    Dear Madam :

Thank you. I have made a draft application based on some other application. Please vet it out for correctness. My new queries are given below :

    1. In sample application taken they had mentioned enclosing additional 100/- for copies. Do I also have to give some similar amount ? If so what.

    2. Since the information I am seeking is in electronic form and should be available immediately, will there be a charge.

    3. On going to site, I find they have RTI and under this I find the names given with email id. Can this be sent by email ? They may not even look at mails though.

    4. The information I am seeking is not large or volumonous. There will be some 40 colleges in Mumbai and 25 Colleges in Pune region and I am seeking broad nos. only.e.g. specifically the additionally info on how many students got admitted in the Counselling round. Only broad nos are required. I do not need student details. This information will hardly be 10-12 pages and not more.

Abbv used : HU = Home University; OHU = Other than Home University; CR = Students admitted during Counselling Round
    Civil Mechanical Electronics ECTC Production
    ABCD College HU
    OHU
    CR

    EFGH College HU
    OHU
    CR

    5. What is the time frame by which I should get some response.

    With Regards

    Dear Mr. Krishnan,
The Drafted RTI Application, by you looks good enough to file for an RTI.

RTI-Anonymous files all RTI through their volunteers, at the expense of RTI-A. RTI-Anonymous is an organization, meant to protect people who can be harmed either physical or otherwise, if they file the RTI application, themselves.
I am unable to to understand, why this RTI cannot be filed by yourself. This looks like a straightforward RTI application and there should be no retribution to you.

      Dear Mr Anand :

Thanks for your mail. I also know this orgn is for assisting people where there is threat perception. But please also look at my first mail where I have stated I want to get into RTI and do not know how to go about it. Initially I will need guidance and there will be queries. Hence I mentioned I will file, but please help and show me how to go about it.

I have further queries which please let me know so that I can progress it.
      a) Since my information is not a big lot, but couple of pages, is there any payment to be made for copying, if so how does one determine the cost.
      b) Normally all this are to be paid in cheque or by DD. If DD in what name.
c)For my understanding are all application to be accompanied with DD charge of Rs. 10/- or does it differ.
      d) How long does it take to get the information – do they send it or do we have to go and collect it ?
These are basic questions, which if you help me I should take a start.

While at it, (a) I have more serious issues to be taken up and this I am laying my foundation. (b) As mentioned in my first mail, I also want to be of whatever help I can be to other people. But before that I need to be thorough so that I can help people. I appreciate the work being done by your organisation and looking at your teams dedication and support, I also though I should chip in with whatever I can. But before that I need to learn fully the process and then help.

      With Warm regards

      Krishnan
